USSBA Honors Jazz Band

The USSBA Honors Jazz Band was cool. I got to meet a lot of cool people and got to hang out and trade 4th's with Winston Byrd... By the way go and check out his new CD "Soul Searchin'" is hot!!! www.winstonbyrd.com

I don't want to get too much into the USSBA experience because i could spend hours talking about how cool it was.. but one more thing; I also got to play with the Marine Corps Honors Jazz Combo which was really cool..

My chops are just worn out, i definitely did a lot of playing this weekend..

Also, today i found out that i got nominated to be in the Eastern Coast Jazz Band. For now it's only a nomination, so I really don't see why my band teacher is making a big deal about it... so now I'm going to start practicing hard again...

Sorry for not posting lately. Well here is my update:

I received a 1 rating (which is the best rating) at State Solo and Ensemble Festival for my performance of the first movement of the Hummel Trumpet concerto. I was pretty happy with that. I got to meet tons of great people.. man! i met this kid who was in 7th grade and was playing the second movement of the haydn... amazing, Maryland has tons of talent...

Tomorrow i leave to the USSBA honors jazz band were hopefully I'll get to meet Winston Byrd! I'm really looking forward to it. My chops are in pretty good shape so I'm happy about that... Now that I'm sure about my chops I'd like to work more on the technique so hopefully I'll truly have the total package..

Caruso and the Future

Hey guys... Well my chops are back in shape!!!! I've re found my love for Latin music.... and i still like Miles Davis's music.. i can't wait till i get to play jazz again, i really miss it..

school band is the same old, pretty fun (sometimes)... I do it for the kids.. hehehe. I really want to buy a new mouthpiece and flugelhorn... I LOVE THE FLUGEL!!! My Carmine Caruso studies are really helping me out a lot and I hope to be good enough by this summer so that I can just get out their in the real world and start jammin' with other cats... if i didn't suck so much i would jam right now!!! As a matter of fact i haven't jammed at all in a long time.. Playing with CD's is alright but nothing replace the realness and the groove of a band .... man do i miss the old days...
